The Delhi Jal Board was formed on 6 April 1998 through an Act of the Delhi Legislative Assembly. It has been meeting the potable water requirements in the National Occupational Territory of Delhi for more than five decades. The Delhi Jal Board is able to supply pure and nutritious filtered water to the capital city of India, which is currently finomally populated for a population of over 160 lakhs. The Delhi Jal Board is committed to increasing the water supply in Delhi and has taken several steps in this direction. The Delhi Jal Board has ensured an average availability of 50 gallons per person per day of filtered water through an efficient network of water treatment plants, booster pumping stations and approximately 9000 km of water level and distribution system.
