GAIL (India) Ltd was fused in August 1984 as a Central Public Sector Company (PSU) under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoP and NG). At first, the organization was doled out duty regarding the development, activity and support of the Hazira – Vijaypur – Jagdishpur (HVJ) pipeline project. It was one of the biggest gaseous petrol pipeline projects the nation over on the planet. Initially, this 1800 km long gas pipeline was worked at an expense of Rs 1700 Crores and established the framework for the improvement of the petroleum gas market in India.
